This trip was a 13 day bus tour of the Republic of Ireland with a couple of days in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I traveled with June, Joyce & Larry. Rain was a daily occurrence but seldom did it dampen our spirits. When the sun shone the country showed off it's many shades of green.
At the ancient cathedral site of Kilmachduagh I saw this Irish Celtic Cross marking a grave site in the cemetery.
There is an Irish legend that St. Patrick combined the symbol of Christianity with the pagan sun cross. He did this to show followers the importance of the cross by linking it to the life-giving properties of the sun. [source Wikipedia]
